COMMITTEES

You are invited to join the conversation as KGA continues to promote best practices and solutions tailored to Kentucky’s natural gas industry. We encourage your company to participate in one or more of 9 KGA Standing Committees. Many Committees sponsor independent and collaborative events throughout Kentucky, and all are vital, informational forums. Explore the KGA Committees, and please contact KGA if you would like to join as the Association continues to provide for the advancement of the natural gas industry.

LIST OF COMMITTEES

CORROSION COMMITTEE


The purpose of the Corrosion Committee is to forge a relationship with individuals concerned with corrosion issues and advance corrosion control efforts for the betterment of all concerned.

DAMAGE PREVENTION & SAFETY COMMITTEE


This committee with the government, the public, excavators, developers, municipalities and individual contractors to develop education programs and services to reduce damage to underground facilities.

The Damage Prevention and Safety Committee is also instrumental in working with Kentucky 811 to develop proposed 811 regulations that will be submitted to the legislature for approval.

EDUCATION COMMITTEE

The Education Committee was founded in 1977 to ensure industry professionals have access to reasonably priced training sessions throughout the state. This committee meets monthly to determine the current training needs of natural gas industry employees and the most effective way to meet those needs.

GAS COMPRESSION & PROCESSING COMMITTEE


The Gas Compression Committee’s purpose is to be the premier source of education and information, regarding gas compression and processing, to the natural gas industry of Kentucky.

GAS SUPPLY & CONTROL COMMITTEE


The Gas Supply and Control Committee includes members of both the Kentucky Gas Association and the Ohio Gas Association. Participating companies meet semi-annually to share gas supply strategies under emergency conditions and to share best practices for Gas Control Center operations.

LEGISLATIVE & REGULATORY COMMITTEE


The Kentucky Gas Association (KGA) Legislative Committee serves as a clearinghouse for information within KGA.  KGA does not take an active role in the legislative process in Kentucky.   The Legislative Committee monitors legislation in the Commonwealth and works to educate the membership about legislation that pertains to the natural gas community.  The Legislative Committees provides technical feedback to other KGA committees as they work on issues that may require action through the General Assembly but any external action taken by members of the Legislative Committee, or other committees with KGA, are actions of that individual member’s organization and not reflective of the Association.

MEASUREMENT & REGULATION COMMITTEE


The Measurement and Regulation Committee is committed to the sharing of knowledge and providing insight on new technologies and processes related to the natural gas industry, from the suppliers to the end users, to deliver natural gas in a safe and reliable manner.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE


The purpose of the Membership Committee is to recruit new members to the Kentucky Gas Association, retain existing members, develop and disseminate material that effectively articulates the value and benefits KGA membership provides and provide recommendations to the Board relating to KGA membership dues.

OPERATIONS & ENGINEERING COMMITTEE


The Operations & Engineering (O&E) Committee is comprised of various Kentucky LDC and municipal natural gas system operators, as well as associated affiliate companies. The goal of the O&E Committee is to provide an awareness of new innovations, operational procedures, and applicable state and federal regulation.
